2017 NFL Playoff Schedule: Texans’ Wild Card Opponent Revealed

We don’t yet know when the Texans will be playing in next weekend’s Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs, but now we know who’ll they’ll be playing.

Entering the final week of the 2016 regular season, Texans fans knew about the different scenarios in play that would affect who was coming to NRG Stadium next week. There were pros and cons to each of the three (3) possible wild card opponents that were discussed ad nauseam.

The question of who the Texans will be playing next weekend has now been answered. With the Raiders’ loss to the Broncos and the Chiefs’ win over the Chargers, the Chiefs have won the AFC West and the second seed in the AFC Playoffs, sending the Raiders tumbling to the fifth seed and a date with the AFC South champion (and fourth seed in the AFC Playoffs) Houston Texans.

Now our attention turns to whether the game will be played on Saturday, January 7th or Sunday, January 8th, and which of the two kickoff times on each of those days will be reserved for Texans-Raiders. My guess is that we’re looking at a 3:30 p.m. CST kickoff on Saturday at NRG Stadium for the Texans, but we’ll have a separate post up with that information as soon as it’s released.

In the meantime, let loose with your thoughts about how the Texans (who will be starting Brock Osweiler or Tom Savage at QB) match up against the Raiders (who will be starting Matt McGloin or Connor Cook at QB) in the playoffs.

UPDATE: As expected, the Texans and Raiders will face off on Saturday afternoon.
