2017 NFL Mock Draft: Lance Zierlein Says The Texans Will Take...

There seems to be a growing trend of linking the Texans and offensive linemen in the first round of 2017 NFL mock drafts.

I love Lamp.

Lance Zierlein has taken his first swing at mocking the 2017 NFL Mock Draft, and he, like several other analysts, has your Houston Texans going into the trenches with their first round pick. Where in the trenches, however, might surprise you.

25. Houston Texans: Forrest Lamp - OT, Western Kentucky: Lamp showed up and had strong games against LSU in 2015 and Alabama in 2016. He played tackle at WKU, but could step in at guard and become a 10-year starter in the NFL.

I know absolutely nothing about Lamp, so I’m not going to pretend that I have no opinion about whether this is a good or bad pick. It is interesting to note that Zierlein seems to think Lamp is more suited for guard in the NFL yet still worth the Texans’ first-round pick. Is that an indictment of Xavier Su’a-Filo or Jeff Allen? Or simply a case of projecting the team to take the best player available?
