Street Clothes Special: Texans-Raiders Inactives

The Texans and Raiders will be playing this afternoon in the first game of the 2016 NFL Playoffs. We already have some information about who will be missing this game. Connor Cook will start his first game in the NFL without the services of LT Donald Penn, who misses a game after 156 consecutive starts. We also know that the Texans will be starting Brock Osweiler, since Tom Savage’s concussion has ruled him out. John Simon misses yet another game with a chest injury, but that’s unfortunately to be expected at this point.

The Texans’ injury report for this past week has been extensive, to put it mildly. In addition to Savage and Simon, another 14 players are listed. Jeff Allen (ankle), A.J. Bouye (groin), Chris Clark (ankle), Jadeveon Clowney (elbow, wrist), Brian Cushing (ankle), Quintin Demps (hamstring), Ryan Griffin (quadricep), Andre Hal (calf), Kareem Jackson (neck), Don Jones (elbow), Johnathan Joseph (ribs, shoulder), Lamar Miller (ankle), Nick Novak (shoulder), and Jay Prosch (ankle, knee), all got extra attention from the medical staff during the week. Fortunately, all of them should be good to go for the game.

The Raiders have fewer injured players, but more that are either already ruled out, or questionable for today’s matchup. In addition to Derek Carr, whose broken leg has basically destroyed their chances, and Donald Penn, who is missing his first game, they have ruled out Nate Allen with a concussion. Amari Cooper (shoulder), Michael Crabtree (ankle), Andre Holmes (shoulder), Karl Joseph (toe), Matt McGloin (left shoulder), Kelechi Osemele (ankle), and Malcolm Smith (hamstring) are questionable for today’s game. Austin Howard (shoulder) and Stacy McGee (groin) were full participants in Friday’s activities and should be a go for the game.

Of course, the Raiders wouldn’t be the Raiders without late drama, so this gem popped up on my Twitter timeline.
