I used to savor the bye week. There would be three different big games on. I would sit back and savor big football. Those weekends without Houston and Dallas on during Sunday afternoons were just perfect. Or I would leave for the weekend to go camping, not thinking about anything except for whatever I was reading.
But with the invention of Game Pass, every week is kind of a bye week. I watch football now by watching the Texans LIVE, doing whatever until the late afternoon games are over, and then watch as many condensed versions as I can. Since Houston isn’t playing this week, I’ll have three extra hours this Sunday.
I’m going up to Austin the night before to see Turnover, making a stop in San Marcos along the way to drink cold brew, do dead lifts, and then run as many miles as I can. So I’ll probably sleep in a bit Sunday. Then I’ll watch some Seattle Seahawks’ offensive line play until I can catch up with the condensed versions. I live a fabulous life. Heaven can wait.
What about you? What are you doing? Are you still watching football on Sunday? Are you going to a pumpkin patch? Will you be reading Sylvia Plath? Is the grass in your yard too high? Have you seen the new Blade Runner? Maybe you’ll be staying inside and getting spooky with some scary movies?
Whatever your plans, let us know in the comments. If you're still trying to figure out what you're going to do, or if you’ll be a stranger in a strange land looking for some weekend plans, pose any queries here; someone might have a suggestion for you. Similarly, if you've got a worthy spot staked out somewhere and want to clue fellow Texans’ fans in to it to enjoy football this weekend, please divulge that information in the Comments as well.
