Okay, great. The Texans did the right thing, the smart thing, and they have Tom Savage inactive for this week’s game. Against the Jaguars’ pass defense and pass rush, Savage would lose another life. After suffering probably at least two concussions this year, he shouldn’t play for the rest of the season.
Next man up. T.J. Yates is the Texans’ starting quarterback, and the backup is the one and only, the belle of the ball, Taylor Heinicke.
Texans promoted quarterback Taylor Heinicke to active roster officially today

This is Heinicke’s third season in the NFL. He completed a lot of passes and threw for a lot of yards when he was in college at Old Dominion. He has never played in a real NFL game. I’m sure he has picked up the system really well, has a great mind, is accurate, has a nice arm, and has a surprising amount of mobility.
To make room for their new QB, the Texans cut defensive tackle Chunky Clements.
I hope Heinicke doesn’t play on Sunday. I hope we sit and wallow in 2011 nostalgia. I hope this young man isn’t thrown into a piranha tank.
