Growing up, I was a fan of the University of Texas. My grandfather took my brothers and I to a game every year. We would wear orange and throw the football around during the tailgate while the adults filled up on meat and beer. And the games he took us to were always against Kansas, Baylor, or some other terrible team to ensure that we went to a game where the Horns would win. Then I went to college, went to a different university, and all that love evaporated.
During those times, there were two championship games I vividly remember. Both against the University of Colorado. The first was the Chris Simms debacle against Colorado, where he threw 100 interceptions and put Texas behind. Then Major Applewhite came in and almost led the comeback. They came up short, and so their National Championship hopes ended.
The other was the 700-0 win in 2005 in Houston. It was a slaughter. VInce Young hit a bunch of deep touchdown passes early on. It was a massacre. From there, Texas went on to win a title.
Anyways, today is championship weekend. All the fun to see who makes the playoffs will be going on. Below are the dates and times. Enjoy the day here at BRB while you do whatever it is that you do. Just remember the standard commenting rules apply.
