Countdown to Kickoff: Texans - Steelers

This Christmas, the Texans are hosting the Steelers. Let’s hope they don’t end up with a lump of coal.

The NFL TV gurus surely had something more exciting than a 4-10 team hosting a playoff-bound 11-3 team, but it is what it is. When the Steelers drafted T.J. Watt, I’m sure fans of both teams circled this date on the calendar as a chance to big brother (J.J. Watt) match up against baby brother (T.J.). Sadly, J.J. Watt is injured and has been on IR for months now, so we won’t get to see them play against one another (this season).

This was supposed to be a better matchup than what we’ve got available. Even when Watt (and Whitney Mercilus) went down with injuries, we still had Deshaun Watson who was lighting up this offense and giving Texans fans something to look forward to. Alas, he, too, is injured, and so is his backup Tom Savage. So we have T.J. Yates.

On a brighter note, David Quessenberry is finally going to be active for a game!!! This will be his first game since being drafted five years ago and battling cancer. So that’s something to be cheerful about, no?

Chill here while the food settles in your stomach. Prepare to watch DQ in his first career game, and rejoice in another NFL season spent here among our loved ones at BRB. The first quarter thread should open around 3:15 pm CST.
