The first time the Houston Texans welcomed the Tennessee Titans into our house, we weren’t all that welcoming, going on to score a total of 57 points, good enough to result in the good guys winning by 43. I have the sneaking suspicion that the score will be closer this time around. Given the two teams’ recent histories, it may be a surprise for Texans fans to learn that, right now, the Titans lead the series, with 16 victories to our 15. In the first party of this century, the Titans dominated the series, but this decade has been all about the Texans.
Coming into this game, the Titans sit atop the AFC South at 7-4. Our team is third, at 4-7, which is pitiful, but at least we’re ahead of the Colts (we may not be the worst division in the entire NFL for much longer, at this rate). The Texans have struggled since the loss of Deshaun Watson, and injuries at key defensive positions haven’t helped anything. One positive is that Brian Cushing returns from his 10-game suspension for banned substances. Of course, he’s likely as rusty as the Titanic, and the linebackers haven’t been the issue, but it’s always good to have a player who can execute on the field.
This is where we’ll count down the minutes until the game starts. Chat about what you expect to see today, the fate of the Texans and Cushing, Tom Savage being the not sewer, etc. Chill here until the first quarter thread opens up at 11:45 CST.
