George Godsey is not the only former Texan who’s got a new coaching gig today. In fact, I reckon this bit of news will be met with considerably more joy.
49ers hired former Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans as defensive quality control assistant

The man they call Cap’n ‘Meco hasn’t been a member of the Houston Texans since he was traded to the Eagles nearly five (5!) years ago, but he’s still beloved by the fan base. Although the idea of DeMeco Ryans playing for another team hurt, Ryans went on to play several more quality years in Philadelphia before that team released him shortly after the 2015 season ended. Since that time, he’s popped up on the sports talk radio airwaves a time or two here in Houston. Now it appears he’s going to return to the NFL in a different way.
Good for him. Best of luck to ‘Meco as he begins his coaching career with the San Francisco 49ers.
