With the first overtime game in Super Bowl history now in the rear view mirror, mock drafts shall become the preferred currency of the nascent offseason. You can expect BRB to feature a bunch of them as we mine for content. Today, we bring you a fresh one from DraftWire’s Luke Easterling. He has your Houston Texans taking a quarterback in the first round, and I imagine you, gentle reader, have an opinion about this.
25. Houston Texans: Patrick Mahomes III, QB, Texas Tech
The Brock Osweiler experiment has already failed, and Tom Savage isn’t the savior. Mahomes isn’t the most orthodox passer, but he’s got a laser for a right arm and can overcome his mechanical flaws with smarts and playmaking ability.
I imagine the notion of the Texans drafting Mahomes in the first round is sure to inspire a passionate response one way or the other. But wait! There’s more! Easterling also projects the Texans spending their second, third, and fourth round picks as follows:
