It’s MOCK DRAFT MONDAY, so let’s check in to see what SB Nation’s Dan Kadar has projected for your Houston Texans in this two-round scenario of the 2017 NFL Draft. Kadar’s latest guess at who the Texans will take with their first pick is no surprise. Frankly, we’ve reached a point where I’m more surprised when I don’t see this player assigned to Houston.
25. Houston Texans: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
In the second round, however, Kadar has the Texans going in a direction that I reckon would please many a Houston fan.
57. Houston Texans: T.J. Watt, LB, Wisconsin
There’s no doubt other positions are of significantly greater need for the Texans than linebacker, but (1) it’d be hard to quibble with the team taking whoever they had highest on their board and/or (2) I hear T.J. Watt comes from good stock. The idea of T.J. playing next to his older brother and destroying opposing offenses for years to come has a way of soothing my concerns about the offensive line.
Or it would until the first time I saw someone zoom around the Texans’ right tackle as though he wasn’t even there.
Your thoughts?
