2017 NFL Free Agent Tracker: A.J. Bouye To Sign With Jaguars

Deep down, we all knew this was coming. Right? Right?

Perhaps the Texans’ most pressing priority this offseason has been whether or not they could manage to re-sign breakout corner A.J. Bouye. Bouye is probably the best corner available in this current free agent class, combining youth with excellent production. The Texans were not exactly flush with cap space, and the fact they have three solid to very good corners (Johnathan Joseph, Kareem Jackson, and Kevin Johnson) already under contract were reasons Bouye could be deemed expendable. Whether you agree with the decision or not, those were surely reasons for the team to decide not to tag Bouye, even though doing so seemed to dramatically decrease the Texans’ chances of keeping Bouye in Houston.

It was inevitable that the former Texans corner would draw interest from other teams. Earlier this afternoon, we learned that Bouye had informed the Texans he would not be re-signing with them. Now it’s being reported that A.J. Bouye has reached agreement on a new contract with a new team. A familiar team for Texans fans.

So there you have it, folks. Bouye to the Jaguars. Your reaction? Surely you’re happy for Bouye and his family about their newfound extreme wealth, but what’s your feeling as a Texans fan? Did Rick Smith & Co. botch this? Let us know in the comments below
