Houston Texans Trade Brock Osweiler, 2018 Second Round Pick To Browns

I’m not sure what’s going on right now.

NFL: AFC Divisional-Houston Texans at New England Patriots David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

When most of us woke up today hoping the Texans would do something in free agency at QB, I strongly doubt any of us expected this:

To summarize, Brock Osweiler is heading to Cleveland, where he’ll most likely be cut or traded. All it cost the Texans to create $10 million or so in cap room (and acquire a fourth rounder for this year’s draft) was a second round pick in 2018 and a sixth rounder in this year’s draft.

I guess this is happening now. I’m not really sure what else to say, so I’ll turn to you, the BRB commenters. What do you say of this deal?

UPDATE: The Texans released this statement on the trade:

UPDATE II: This is nice.

UPDATE III: Dunsmore says this is the prelude to Tony Romo’s arrival. Do you agree?

UPDATE IV: Brock Osweiler is in demand, people. The Browns hold all the cards.

UPDATE V: If the Browns can’t find a taker for Brock’s contract, they don’t sound intent on keeping him on their roster.

UPDATE VI: Very interesting analysis of the trade by Matt Weston. Did the Texans and Browns just start a new way of doing business in the NFL?
