Speculation abounds that Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes—who just so happens to be at NRG Park right now visiting the Texans’ brass—could be the preferred choice for Bill O’Brien in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. That conjecture got a bit of a boost this morning with Tom Pelissero’s story in USA Today.
File this away: One NFL coach who has done homework on all the top QBs told me word is Bill O'Brien "absolutely loves" Patrick Mahomes. https://t.co/SYvUyLWlAC

There’s no way to know if this is true, of course. It could be little more than misinformation fed to a reporter by someone with an agenda.
What’s more, there are rumblings Mahomes could be long gone by the time the Texans go on the clock at No. 25. In his latest mock draft (which has the Texans selecting Mahomes, naturally), Dan Kadar mentions the Texans may have to move up to assure themselves a shot at Mahomes. Would you support the Texans trading assets to snag Patrick Mahomes?
