ESPN’s two draft aficionados, Mel Kiper Jr and Todd McShay, came together in the spirit of mock draft unity in order to put together a 3 round mock in which they each took turns in making selections. Due to the way in which it was sequenced, it turns out Mel Kiper Jr ended up making all the selections for the Texans. Let’s see who Mel decided was the perfect fit for the Texans:
25. Houston Texans
Kiper's pick: Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA
One of the best defenses in the league gets better -- and gets J.J. Watt back. Watch out, quarterbacks. Now, if only Houston could get a QB of its own. I think it's a reach to take Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes here.
57. Houston Texans
Kiper's pick: Nathan Peterman, QB, Pitt
Finally, another quarterback of the board. And it's to the QB-needy Texans, who passed on one in Round 1. Peterman might be the most pro-ready signal-caller in this class.
89. Houston Texans
Kiper's pick: Aviante Collins, OT, TCU
So far Houston has added a pass-rusher and quarterback, and Collins, the fastest O-lineman at the combine (4.81 40), could be Duane Brown's successor.
Takk McKinley in the first, Nathan Peterman in the second, and Aviante Collins in the third. Is this quite the haul, or does it make you so angry you want to replace Mel Kiper’s big tub of hair wax with industrial strength adhesive? Either way, sound off in the comments below.
