With the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft set to begin tonight at 6 p.m. CDT, analysts and speculators have put out their best guess as how things will go this evening. Below are links to several such second (and third, in two cases) round mock drafts, with the Texans’ selection and explanation pulled for your perusal.
57. Houston Texans
Obi Melifonwu, DB, Connecticut: Whether Melifonwu plays cornerback or safety, the Texans could use depth at both positions.
No. 57 Houston Texans: Taylor Moton, OL, Western Michigan
He’s 6' 5", 319 pounds and has played both guard or right tackle. It wouldn’t take long for Moton to help protect Tom Savage (or Deshaun Watson).
No. 89 Houston Texans: Jalen Tabor, CB, Florida
An athletic playmaker who adds some depth in Houston after the Texans lost A.J. Bouye.
57. Houston Texans
Taylor Moton, OT, Western Michigan
Right tackle Derek Newton tore patellar tendons in both legs last season, and it's unlikely he plays in 2017, if he ever plays again. Moton is a four-year starter at right tackle with the length and size to quickly develop into a starting right tackle in the NFL. Valuable swing tackle Chris Clark could start on the right side until Moton is ready.
57. Houston Texans: Dion Dawkins, OT/G, Temple
57. Houston Texans: D'Onta Foreman - RB
School: Texas. The Texans add even more juice to the RB position and look to win on the ground.
89. Houston Texans: Collin Buchanan, OL, Miami (Ohio)
Your thoughts on these projections? Any of them particularly palatable or unsavory?
