With the 142nd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, via the trade that sent Brock Osweiler to the Cleveland Browns, the Houston Texans have selected defensive tackle Carlos Watkins (DT—Clemson).
Watkins joins fellow Clemson alums Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins and D.J. Reader on the Texans’ roster. At 6’3” and 309 lbs, the Texans’ new defensive tackle adds more playmaking potential to a dangerous Houston defense, particularly with Vince Wilfork’s likely retirement.
What do you think, Texans fans? Are you surprised that the Texans still haven’t taken a corner or safety in this draft? What are your thoughts on adding some new talent at defensive tackle with this selection?
