What was rumored last night...
...has become fact this afternoon.
Although Raye was presumably hired to replace the departed Brian Gaine, it’s interesting to note that Raye’s title in Houston is “Assistant General Manager” while Gaine’s was “Director of Pro Player Personnel.” Whether the Texans hire or promote someone to Gaine’s old job, or whether Raye simply has subsumed the same duties under a new description, remains to be seen.
Raye, fired by Chris Ballard as part of the regime change in Indianapolis earlier this year, interviewed for the job as Colts’ general manager after the team dismissed Ryan Grigson. Colts fans seem torn about Raye coming to Houston, with some considering him part of the problems that have plagued Jim Irsay’s organization while others think he was one of the only good things about prior management.
Your two cents, BRB?
