Did you know the 2017 NFL Supplemental Draft is scheduled to take place on July 12th, also known as tomorrow? I sure didn't. Do you know which players are eligible to be drafted in that affair? Me neither. Is this all the most futile of exercises, given that your Houston Texans are already down their first and second round draft picks in the 2018 NFL Draft and thus surely more averse than usual to parting with draft picks? You know it!
Nevertheless, from the PFT article linked above:
There are only two players eligible this year, so it may well escape your notice next week as well. Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com reported that Georgia Military College defensive end Tavares Bingham and Western New Mexico running back Marques Rodgers are this year’s entries and the league has confirmed that is the case.
Bingham never played last season after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College while Rodgers ran for 1,283 yards and caught 61 passes.
Finally, is this post nothing more than a transparent excuse for me to once again mention how Charley Casserly once decided to forfeit a second-round pick for the honor of adding Tony Hollings to his roster? You know me too well.
Catch that supplemental draft fever!
