Houston Rockets owner Les Alexander dropped a bombshell on the basketball landscape on Monday afternoon when he announced the team was up for sale.
There is a short list of Houston billionaires that many turned their attention to as possible future owners of the Rockets, including current Houston Texans owner Bob McNair.
McNair was quick to knock down any possible rumor, reports Fox 26 Sports Director Mark Berman.

McNair returned the NFL to Houston in 2002. Before that McNair attempted to bring an NHL team to Houston in 1997.
NFL bylaws do allow an NFL owner to own a major league baseball, basketball, and/or hockey team if they are in the same home market as the NFL team. This rule does not apply to MLS teams.
Alexander has said that one of the goals for the new owner is to keep the team in Houston. Houston football fans know all too well what it’s like to have their franchise leave.
