Ever since the Texans traded up for the opportunity to draft Deshaun Watson, Bill O’Brien has been resolute that Tom Savage was and is the Texans’ starting quarterback. Indeed, Savage has gotten the lion’s share of the reps with the first team offense throughout OTAs and training camp. Although O’Brien has lauded Watson’s development and the rookie out of Clemson has looked promising at times in Houston’s two preseason games (moreso against Carolina than New England), nothing has changed atop the Texans’ depth chart at QB, a fact O’Brien reiterated today with the media.
Bill O'Brien on Tom Savage 'Tom is our starter. He's had a good camp' Emphasized he's No. 1 and Deshaun Watson No. 2

Consequently, it would appear that anyone who believed Deshaun Watson would be the Texans’ starting quarterback when the Jaguars come to NRG Stadium on September 10th needs to reevaluate his or her position posthaste.
