In the wake of Hurricane Harvey and the catastrophic damage it has caused, the citizens of Houston and the surrounding cities are in need of major support as their homes are totaled, love ones missing, and not being able to work, in need of funds. The damaged caused by the category 4 hurricane will cost billions of dollars and years to restore it whole again. Many celebrities along with athletes not only have donated their love, support, and prayers, but they dug into their bank accounts and donated money as well.

The hometown Houston Texans football team have donated $1 million to help those affected by Harvey. J.J. Watt who plays for the Houston Texans started a fund raiser of his own Sunday night. In a video posted on Twitter, Watt stated "It's very tough to watch our city get hit by such a bad storm and not be there to help, not be there to help with the recovery, not be there to help with the process. It's very tough so what I do want to do is start a fundraiser," The fund raiser has raised over $3 million with a goal of $4 million. The Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and NFL all have donated at least $1 million to the United Way of Greater Houston's Flood Relief Fund. The New York Jets donated $1 million to the American Red Cross.

NBA Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander and MLB Houston Astros owner Jim Crane along with the Astros foundation donated $4 million to the Hurricane relief fund. In a statement released by the Astros, Crane said "we are committed to doing our part to provide aid and assistance to the thousands of Houston-area residents that are desperately in need right now, we encourage others in our region and beyond to help out in any way that they can."
