Your first look at the 2017 Houston Texans is only hours away.

Houston Texans football is officially back, y’all! After the long and tedious offseason, our beloved Texans face off with the Carolina Panthers tonight in Charlotte, North Carolina for the first preseason matchup of the season. The action (and our first open thread of the night) kick off at 6:30 p.m CST.

Houston has a ton of questions to answer this year, including which quarterback gives them the best chance to win it all (Tom Savage or Deshaun Watson), what J.J. Watt will look like as he returns from serious injuries, who steps up in Will Fuller’s absence, how stout will the offensive line be, and who will rise to the occasion at safety. Tonight, we will start to see some preliminary answers to these questions.

Watt will play in tonight’s matchup (though probably briefly), and Savage will get the start (though we will certainly see Watson and Brandon Weeden as well). It could also be our first look at several players returning from injury, like cornerback Kevin Johnson, Nick Martin and others.

Tonight will be the first glimpse of our 2017 Houston Texans. What are your thoughts, hopes, dreams, or expectations for the team this season? What are you looking for in tonight’s matchup? The comments section below is yours to discuss anything and everything Texans before kickoff!
