Johnathan Joseph Talks Free Agency, Future With Texans

Does the veteran cornerback want to stay with the team he chose back in 2011?

NFL: Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans
Don’t go nowhere, J-Jo.

Johnathan Joseph left the Cincinnati Bengals and chose to sign with your Houston Texans back on July 28, 2011. In the seven seasons he’s been in Houston since then, I think it’s fair to say J-Jo has definitively been the best free agent the Texans have ever plucked from another team. Although Joseph had a markedly worse season in 2017 than he did in 2016, we’ve learned (or should have) not to bury the guy prematurely.

Granted, Father Time is undefeated, and J-Jo will be 34 when the 2018 season opens. But the Texans aren’t exactly swimming in proven talent in the secondary, so it would seem another contract extension would make sense for both sides. For his part, Joseph isn’t trying to be cagey about what he’d like to see happen.

Do you think Johnathan Joseph is playing for another NFL team next season? What sort of contract could you get behind for him to remain in Houston?
