The Broncos had a chance to take one and suture their recent losing wounds. Vance Joseph ran the ball up the middle with a timeout left but instead played it safe with a 50 yard field goal attempt. The Broncos missed. Houston wins. With the visiting tea, walking off 19-17 after Case Keenum made some swell and some terrible throws to get Denver into field goal range in the first place, this is a fireable offense for the head coach of a team who is now 3-6.
The field goal became a game-winning attempt after Kai’imi Fairbain missed his first extra point of the season. He attempted two after two Deshaun Watson passing touchdowns. Aside from these two touchdowns, both offenses struggled. The Broncos’ rushing attack was stagnant against the best run defense in football. The Texans’ pass offense was stagnant once Bradley Chubb and Von Miller got going and turned the pocket into a mosh pit. Aside from some DeAndre Hopkins receptions, things were tough for Houston in this one.
Houston is now 6-3 and heads into a bye this week. They’ll visit Washington when their season resumes in Week 11.
