Well we are here. Two more weeks. A win either this week or next week will clinch the division, and then it’s January football time. Yet even at the same time, and more importantly, the Texans are the #2 seed and looking to achieve a feat they’ve never reached, obtaining a first round bye in the postseason. From there it will be win one game at home to advance to an AFC title game. What a place to be in after starting 0-3. First there’s a big Nick Foles fish to fry.
I’ll be watching this game tired and red eyed and with family. They’ll ask me questions like, “Deshaun Watson is really good. Is he like he was last year?”. And I’ll say he’s been better but will never have a touchdown rate like he had last season and a lot of his success was misleading so it’s not fair to compare the numbers the last two seasons. They’ll say, “Wow. Their cornerbacks are really bad. How are they 10-4?”. And I’ll say they played a lot of teams that couldn’t throw the ball so these issues were masked, and were stuck running the ball against the best run defense in football. Then they’ll leave. This is the life that found me.
Anyways, what about you? What are you doing? Is there some last second buzzer beating holiday shopping you need to do? Are you leaving to visit other people who live other places? Will you be wrapping gifts with the games on and trying to survive a fantasy football championship? How heart broken will you be if Houston can’t clinch this bye?
