Last week was a bloodbath for the Texans’ roster. They lost Kareem Jackson, Demaryius Thomas, Brian Peters, and Johnathan Joseph for a bit. Lamar Miller was already inactive for the Eagles game. Now it’s been reported that Thomas, Peters, and Kayvon Webster were all placed on Injured Reserve, ending their season.

To make up for the loss of Thomas, the Texans signed practice squad receiver Steven Mitchell to the active roster. I don’t know who he is. He went to USC. Pretty cool.

Houston also signed Chris Landrum from the practice squad and released Kennan Gilchrist after losing Peters for the season. Expect Shareece Wright to shed his inactive tag and replace Webster.

The good news is Jackson is expected to play in the regular season finale on Sunday, and Lamar Miller is trending positively. Houston will need both of them as they try to clinch the AFC South with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium this weekend. A loss would slide Houston into the #6 seed in the AFC Playoffs and create a true AFC South Championship Game on Sunday night between the Colts and Titans.
