The Film Room: Saquon Barkley Is The Second Coming Of LaDainian Tomlinson

New, comments

And unfortunately, he might be in the AFC South very soon.

NCAA Football: Fiesta Bowl-Penn State vs Washington Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Texans already have enough trouble dealing with the incredible running back talent in their division - Leonard Fournette, Chris Ivory, Derrick Henry, and of course DeMarco Murray (when he’s healthy) - but in just a couple of months they might have an even more dangerous challenge dropped into their division in Penn State’s Saquon Barkley.

Barkley, who is widely considered one of the main draft targets for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2018 NFL Draft, possesses a truly frightening combination of size, speed, and agility that has left countless defenders in his wake. Saquon’s overall skill-set is as varied as it is effective in the modern NFL. He can excel at every role from returner, to runner, to receiver, to blocker, all on the same series. That versatility and physical freakishness is why I compared him to one of the greatest running back prospects of all time, LaDainian Tomlinson, in this week’s episode of “The Film Room.”

What say you, BRB? Would you be worried if the Colts get their hands on a game-changing running back, or are the rest of their roster deficiencies too substantial for Barkley to make a difference?
