The Film Room: The Devastating Power Of Quenton Nelson

If you like watching defensive linemen get buried alive, Notre Dame’s Quenton Nelson is the guard for you.

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The Texans have a precisely zero percent chance of drafting Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson this April, but that doesn’t mean that Texans fans won’t be seeing a lot of him over the next decade or so. The Indianapolis Colts hold the third overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, and (as usual) they are still trying to find a way to stop Houston’s triple threat of J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, and Whitney Mercilus from decapitating their quarterbacks.

Is Nelson the answer they have been looking for to fill in their right guard spot across from Jack Mewhort? Is he worth that high of a pick despite playing a “lesser” valued position? Check out this week’s episode of “The Film Room” for answers to those questions and more. Regardless of what team Nelson is drafted to, if you love watching good offensive line play, you’ll love seeing this kid go to work.
