The NFL Combine has just begun, and with the first major gathering of NFL teams and media in one spot since the Super Bowl, it’s only natural that the rumor mill churns. Already, information surrounding the futures of free agents are starting to be released.
One such player is Patriots running back Dion Lewis. Pro Football Talk reports:
Patriots running back Dion Lewis is expected to get serious consideration from multiple teams, per a source with knowledge of the situation.
Potentially interested teams include the Jets, Texans, 49ers, Raiders, and Colts. As many as six or seven teams are expected to pursue Lewis.
Lewis shared the Patriots’ backfield with three other backs in 2017, but he managed to get the most snaps out of the group with 405. Lewis is coming off his most productive season in the NFL, with 180 carries for 896 yards and 6 TDs at a YPC of 5.0. He was also a valuable part of New England’s passing attack, catching 32 of his 36 targets for 214 yards and 3 TDs.
What role might Lewis have with the Texans, considering the currently complicated state of the backfield here? Would you be interested in the Texans adding Lewis? How do you think he might fit into Houston’s offense?
