Jadeveon Clowney Wants To Stay In Houston, Sign New Contract With Texans

One of the big questions of the offseason seems to be answered from the player’s perspective.

In the interview (I guess you can call it that) below, Jadeveon Clowney was asked a question while standing outside a teal hot dog stand and wearing a polo shirt with the top button buttoned. I don’t know what the question was. If I had to guess, it was something along the lines of, “You are going to be a free agent next summer. The Texans often lock up their best players the year before they hit free agency. Do you want to stay in Houston?”.

This is what the answer was.

Jadeveon Clowney wants to re-sign with the Houston Texans and wants to finish his career here, which means that Clowney wants a deal that makes him the highest-paid defensive player in football.

Although Clowney’s agent already made clear his client wants to sign an extension with the Texans, his future in Houston was one of the big questions entering the offseason. It sat two rungs down from how will the Texans improve their secondary and how will the Texans improve their offensive line. Clowney is the best run-stopping edge defender in football and a few neuron connections away from being a dominant pass rusher. He’s 25 years old. He plays a premium position. Clowney should be re-signed. The question is for how much.

Clowney answered the question about what he wants. Now it will be up to the Texans to make up the rest before now and the beginning of the 2018 regular season.
