Here are somethings I like:
TURNSTILE: This band it rocks, it rules, it slaps dude. It’s if hardcore and punk rock came together and rolled around. It’s loud and fast. It’s melodic while keeping a thumping bass line. All while singing about and doing interesting things that make it stand out from the usual loud and fast. If you live in Texas they are coming to town this week you should go. Touche Amore will also be there singing, and by singing, I mean talking very aggressively, those sad songs about death and everyone getting older and you being left all alone.
Gerald Murnane: I have never read a profile like this before. It’s the most surreal interview I’ve read. The portrait of an artist as an old man. I can’t wait to be done with Don Quioxote, which I think I’ll die before I ever finish, so I can lay in the grass and read books about Australia written by this old man.
The Lowe Post: Rarely do I watch regular season basketball. Since it coincides with football I don’t have the time to consume both sports, and then once football ends, I do other things than watch regular season Spurs-Wolves games. However, I read and listen to more about basketball than actually watch basketball. Ingrained in me is this podcast. Zach Lowe brings on the best basketball writers out there, as well as players, coaches, and general managers. It’s smart and funny, and always interesting. And once the playoffs arrive I actually know and can appreciate what’s going on thanks to this show.
Joey Gallo Homeruns: I don’t care if the Rangers win or lose ever again. Obsession with championships is the wrong way to watch sports. It’s about an entertainment and enrichment of one’s life. I watched them before they won two pennants, and two more division titles, I’ll continue to watch as they try to rebuild horizontally. Although Texas is covered with injuries, and 7-14, I don’t care. I just like wasting my life waiting for Gallo to obliterate the ball.
Anyways, that’s all I got. Have fun doing whatever it is that you do. The rest is yours to talk about whatever you want, Texans or not. Just remember the standard commenting rules apply.
