According to Aaron Wilson, your Houston Texans have made another addition to “Patriots South” by hiring national college scout James Liipefert as their newest college scouting director.

Wilson first reported this via The Chronicle, where he had this to say:

The Texans have hired former New England Patriots national scout James Liipfert as their new director of college scouting, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

Liipfert has worked for the Patriots for the past nine years, spending the past three as a national scout.

In NFL circles, Liipfert has a strong reputation as a good talent evaluator with a big-time work ethic and attention to detail.

Liipfert overlapped with Texans coach Bill O’Brien during his tenure with the Patriots as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Who knows? Maybe this new era means our Houston Texans can actually draft home runs beyond the first two rounds? What do you think?
