This is a nice birthday gift for Jones, who just celebrated his 24th birthday yesterday. Jones spent his college career in Akron and the end of last season on the Texans’ practice squad.
Thornton saw a decent amount of action at corner in Houston’s first two preseason games, getting 51 snaps combined, mostly with the reserves late in the game. He got hurt during the game against the 49ers on Saturday night.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the team will be allowed to place Thornton on IR if he clears waivers.
