Taylor Lewan Possibly Out Sunday Against Texans

Can Jadeveon Clowney feast without arch rival Taylor Lewan in the lineup?

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The one left tackle in the NFL who knows the sting of the Houston Texans’ pass rush the best is Taylor Lewan. Not only is he Tennessee’s best blocker, he’s the guy who’s spent the most time getting beaten by Texans phenom Jadeveon Clowney. The two faced each other in college and since entering the NFL, they’ve faced each other twice a year with Clowney often getting the best of the matchup.

According to ESPN, Lewan may not be playing this Sunday, however.

Lewan suffered a concussion in Week 1, making his status uncertain for Sunday’s home opener (1 p.m. ET, CBS) against the division rival. If he is unable to play, it will be bad news for a Titans offense that has to go against Houston’s ferocious pass rush.

What do you think? Without Lewan, how many sacks and pressures do you think the Houston rush gets? If Lewan is cleared to play, how much will he be able to slow down Clowney, J.J. Watt, Whitney Mercilus and crew?
