The Alliance of American Football kicked off its inaugural season this weekend.
The league features eight teams with numerous ex-NFL players and ex-Houston Texans, or as we like to call them, Ex-ans.
Two Ex-ans stood out in particular.
Orlando Apollos running back Akeem Hunt lead the league in rushing this week with 10 carries for 73 rushing yards in Orlando’s 40-6 victory over the Atlanta Legends.
Birmingham Iron kicker Nick Novak also played a big role for his squad. The former Texans kicker knocked down four field goals, including a 47-yarder, in the Iron’s 26-0 win over the Memphis Express.
Both Orlando and Birmingham sit atop the Eastern Conference at 1-0. In the Western Conference, the Arizona Hotshots and San Antonio Commanders came away with wins this week.
Two teams from each conference make the playoffs following their 10-game season at the end of April.
