Two days after your Houston Texans agreed to terms with a new backup for Deshaun Watson, they retained the services of their third-string signal-caller.

Joe Webb played more wide receiver than quarterback for the Texans in 2018 thanks to a bevy of injuries to the Texans’ wideout corps, but his true role is backing up DW4’s backup. That used to be Brandon Weeden; now AJ McCarron is presumably QB2 in Houston and therefore the man ahead of Webb on the depth chart.
