Riding into last weekend’s game, the big focus was the availability of wide receiver Kenny Stills. Some even went so far as to doom the Texans’ offense if Stills wasn’t able to go. Well, Stills wasn’t active for the game, and the Texans made due without him.
Will Fuller recorded 14 receptions for 217 yards and 3 TD today.

Both his 14 receptions and his 3 receiving touchdowns tied Andre Johnson's marks for the most in a single game in @HoustonTexans history. pic.twitter.com/PGMu45sjdI
It may not be clear to all, but it seems Houston’s offense found a way to squeak by without Stills. As it goes, every week (at least on the weeks the team doesn’t play flatter than the Texans’ management system) a different player steps up and leaves a mark on the game’s final outcome.
Since Will Fuller V had his turn against the Falcons, chances are the Chiefs won’t leave him on an island. This week, it could be Keke Coutee, who is due for a big game. Or it could be Carlos Hyde, a former Kansas City Chief who knows what it’s like to go against KC’s front seven, even if it’s only in practice. Then there’s Duke Johnson, another player in line for a big game. And, ow could we forget DeAndre Hopkins? Or Darren Fells and Jordan Akins.
The real truth is, as long as Bill O’Brien has his team prepared and amped up when they take the field on Sunday, Houston has too many offensive weapons for Andy Reid and the Chiefs to shut them all down.
What about Houston’s defense? J.J. Watt is due for a “Turn Down for Watt!” game. Whitney Mercilus has shown he can go off at any moment. Benardrick McKinney and D.J. Reader bring their lunch pails every day as well. The guys in the secondary, Bradley Roby, Johnathan Joseph, Justin Reid and Tashaun Gipson, are all capable of making game-changing plays.
Patrick Mahomes' first interception happened of last season was against Jaguars on throw he sailed into the hands of Tashaun Gipson, who now plays for the Texans. Gipson: 'I caught his first pick last year, I want you to remember that. It might happen again this year.'
