The Texans did some things this week. First, they traded for Gareon Conley, as you already know. They assigned him a number. Not #23. I keep seeing those dang digits everywhere. The Texans gave Conley #22.

He’ll presumably start this week against the Oakland Raiders. Secrets are lots of fun.
Houston entered the season with, like, fifteen tight ends on the roster. Darren Fells and Jordan Akins have been the guys who’ve received consistent playing time. Kahale Warring and Jordan Thomas have been building bunk beds on Injured Reserve. Logan Paulsen has also been here for some reason. But not anymore, as the Texans announced they have cut Paulsen.

They did this to add depth to the wide receiver position after Will Fuller V injured his hamstring, which will cost Fuller weeks. Taking Fuller’s place won’t be Eli Rogers or J.J. Nelson, receivers the Texans worked out, but someone from within.
You get the call. Steven Mitchell Jr. You’re a real Houston Texan now.

Replacing Mitchell on the practice squad, is, of course, another tight end. You can’t have too many of them. Just like snakes. They eat the mice, you know. Welcome back, Jerell Adams. We’ve been waiting for you.

Finally, Jon Weeks is a warrior. A real pro’s pro. His teeth grinding, his pain swelling, he made it through last Sunday’s game. He’s expected to play this week against the Raiders. The Texans still flew a few guys in to potentially make some long snaps just in case. Sounds like a nice vacation.
