Jameis Winston threw four interceptions and Ronald Jones lost a fumble. The Buccaneers had five turnovers this game. Winston threw three interceptions in the first half, including a pick-six, and threw another at the end of the game to ice it for Houston. From that point on, the Texans were able to kill the clock for a bit, punt, and then hang out to watch the Bucs flail against the dying light.
Was it a good game? Yes. It was everything Tampa Bay football has to offer. Turnovers. Play action. Downfield passing. Strange short yardage decisions. Weird clock management. The game going only the way it could go. Was it a beautiful game? Yes. It was heavenly and spectacular and gorgeous.
Congratulations to your Houston Texans, 2019 AFC South Champions. The pass defense held up well, played the ball, made big plays happened, and did everything they needed to do for Houston win this one. Oh, and Whitney Mercilus had two sacks, bringing Winston to one behind Kyler Murray for the league lead.
The Texans play the Titans at home next Sunday at 12 p.m. CST at NRG Stadium. They could be playing for the #3 seed if Kansas City was to stumble against Chicago tomorrow night. If not, next Sunday’s game could mean nothing more than bragging rights.
Ice up. Rest up. Go buy yourself a t-shirt.
