Correct me if I am wrong – BOB is the real deal!

Here is my homer flag flying high and I would like to explain to you all why I am super excited about having BOB as our coach.

Lets start with the obvious - "Leader of man" claim: I would like to claim O'Brien has shown amazing ability to keep his team together. He was able to get this team from a 0-3 and to run with a 9-game win which has basically never been done in modern times. We can say its because the other team’s kicker was drunk, the coach was stupid and we got lucky, but I would beg to differ. In the end – it’s a group of competitive players who want to achieve and the easiest route if they lose hope in the coach is throw him under the bus. Now, BOB has been doing one thing very consistently and that is to run under buses on every negative comment reporter try to get from him about a player\coach or even the competition. What you get from BOB is the "we all need to do a better job and it starts with me. I need to coach better"

How easy would it be for a player ,lets say a armless safety ,to throw jabs at him, when all the guy would say "yaa, I am responsible for it". How easy would it be for a over-the-hill tackle who sat out for meaningful games in a season because he wanted more money, to again throw him under the bus and say he hated playing for him and such?

However, you can see numerous players, even those who have huge questions around their future contracts and any reaction they give which faults themselves may be used against them in contract talks, take the same stance, taking responsibility, owning to their mistakes or just saying they need to do better? HB never blamed anyone else! JD didn’t blame and so many others who could have easily said it’s the QB\BOB\ whatever or even just hint. I say, BOB is making this team a very tight group, players sharing the load, playing where they are needed and helping the coach look good. That for me is a very positive sign

BOB is not the most successful coach as far as wins he is 13th on the list of active coaches and while he is somewhere around 18th as far as percentage , he gets to post-season on 50% of his seasons, during those seasons he also got the division title. I know what you are going to say, HE NEVER GETS FAR, yes I agree he never did ,but he has never had his group he wanted to run play. We can only hope to see how well does his O play with healthy players.

I will leave this claim as a question mark for others to pick on me.

Creative mind of O – I would like to claim that while many can do this, BOB can create plays to showcase his stars ,at times. The obvious example for me is Case playing QB

Now, Case plays at least 2 levels higher than he did when he was wearing Texans uniform and I would understand if someone would make a claim he was not improving because of BOB. However, when he was called into action the team was incredibly limited, and it was obvious he wasn’t able to grasp huge part of the playbook or maybe wasn’t able to make the passes. I think, most of us would agree that the team played very well with it’s limited arsenal and made out some very nice lemonade out of that big pile of lemons.

My last point is my own claim which I think can’t really be verified , and that is that while many were criticizing BOB for the D mistakes , it was apparent for me that its Romeo’s D , his style and his calls. BOB will back him up like he backs up anyone else and never says something like – "Yaa we need to clean the garbage our D was" instead the classic "I need to do better , its starts with me" quote which we of course take as him saying he is at fault. Well, he isn’t! he is in charge, he is responsible ,but come on! If you hire Romeo, do you sit on his shoulder and tell him what to do? Same goes to JD mistakes , BOB right away says "he is a special player and needs to play his game" which he also says about DW when he is wetting the bed.

Here’s what I fully expect and I would like to guys to remind me this whenever you see its wrong: I expect BOB to get his guys ready to play a full season ,which at times may mean we would lose games just because he wants the system to be successful, I think he will challenge the players and coaches but will never throw them under the bus even if they really deserve it by not knowing how to use an alarm clock or forgetting they are professional players who can’t smoke in a hotel…I also think that Gains will do well with BOB in his last year in this configuration. After this year, we will see a change , either in Gains, BOB, Romeo or in a way I can’t see right now. Maybe a Superb owl?

Correct me if I am wrong or should I say, correct me on all my incorrect claims, assumptions and thoughts.

We will see
