Should The Houston Texans Trade For Duke Johnson?

Are the Texans focused on another ex-Browns player?

While rumors swirl that the Cleveland Browns have been trying to work a trade for unhappy tailback Duke Johnson for weeks now, the need in Houston for a running back corps upgrade has been glaring.

With Lamar Miller as the lone reliable player in the running back room, Alfred Blue off on a new adventure in Jaguar-land and the jury still out on D’Onta Foreman’s injury recovery, giving up a late round pick to the Browns for Duke Johnson makes a lot of sense for Brian Gaine.

Having these stats in the Houston backfield could mean the difference between continued drives and 3-and-outs on more than one occasion per game. String enough together and Johnson is clearly an upgrade over the departed Blue.

Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson wants to be traded, but whether it happens sooner than later remains to be seen.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday that the Browns are listening to offers, while NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero pointed out a potential trade has been in the works for weeks.

As the Texans continue to bleed players, while not really adding starter quality replacements, making a move for Johnson makes sense, but whether or not they do clearly remains to be seen. If they do, it removes that focus from draft day, albeit by losing a pick, but it would allow the Texans to focus solely on offensive line, defensive backs and other glaring holes.
