Taiwan Jones is one of those players, like Travaris Cadet, or Rod Streater, or Datone Jones, a name you see and read, a guy who passes through the league but you have no recollection of ever watching. Jones is a 31(!) year old running back who played for Oakland and Buffalo. He has 44 NFL rushing attempts to his name. He primarily has been used as a kick returner. Now he’s a Houston Texan.
Texans have signed running back Taiwan Jones, according to his agent, Doug Hendrickson

Is Jones the team’s third running back? Probably not. Hopefully not, with better free agent options still available. He’ll probably be a kick returner and special teams body who will be released into the wild once the Texans sift their way through training camp and preseason. Hopefully some UDFA can live the dream and take on a similar role.
The Texans still have around $40 million in cap space. Expect them to make more moves like this that probably won’t have any affect on the 2019 season.
