Since Brian Gaine was fired on Friday, the Texans have already started to move on and interview general managers. They interviewed Ray Farmer, former general manager of the Cleveland Browns, and former Detroit Lions general manager and 49ers executive Martin Mayhew.
Since then there haven’t been any additional reported interviews. Just names, and front runners, men who may eventually interview and get the job. Nick Caserio is the BIG NAME to watch out for. Monti Ossenfort, the Patriots Director of College Scouting is another name tossed around so the Texans can continue to emulate the New England Patriots without having Bill Belichick or Tom Brady around. Scott Pioli, the warlock who traded for Matt Cassel and tried to turn the Chiefs into the Patriots and recently stepped down as the assistant general manager in Atlanta is another option. Joe Douglas was a rumored hire until the Jets landed him.
Personally, I’m tired of this obsession with the New England Patriots and want it to end already. I don’t want any of this. So I leave the question to you loyal reader, who do you want to be the next general manager of the Houston Texans? I’ll shut up and listen.
