On Saturday night, August 22nd, your Houston Texans signed LB Daren Bates.

Bates is entering his eighth year in the NFL. He should bring valuable special teams experience to the squad. Last season with the Titans, Bates had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and five tackles while playing in thirteen games.
In addition to signing Bates, the Texans also signed long snapper Anthony Kukwa.

Kukwa has had an on-and-off relationship with the Texans since 2019. Maybe he’ll find a niche this time around. With Jon Weeks still on the roster, I don’t think we’ll see a new long snapper anytime soon. But who among us thought Bill O’Brien would jettison Shane Lechler for Trevor Daniel a couple of years ago?
With this flurry of moves, there was a cut to be made. LB Jan Johnson was released from the team.

Johnson was a rookie UDFA out of Penn State. We wish him luck wherever he lands next.
