Yesterday it was announced the Houston Texans were placing Benardrick McKinney on Injured Reserve after he had surgery on his shoulder. After that, the Texans made changes to their practice squad.
They signed former Rice Owl, Seahawk, and Charger linebacker Emmanuel Ellerbee to their practice squad. He’ll join kicker Brett Maher and linebacker Kyle Emanuel as new additions to Houston’s practice squad. With Tyrell Adams replacing McKinney in the starting lineup, there may be a chance either Ellerbee or Emanuel gets some time on the active roster.

Houston also reverted Nate Hall and Jonathan Owens to their practice squad status after each spent a week on the active roster.

To make room, Houston released wide receiver Dwayne Harris and quarterback Alex McGough. They also brought in Artavis Scott for a workout. Scott played with Deshaun Watson at Clemson, left for the NFL Draft early, went undrafted, and has bounced around practice squads since. Houston could replace Harris with him.
It’s a lot of little moves that probably won’t mean much. Maybe it’s all just training for Jack Easterby has he enjoys his time on Bill O’Brien’s throne.
