Last Sunday, the Houston Texans lost an all-time absurd AFC South game to the Tennessee Titans. This week, even without a real general manager around, the Texans made one small move to help their terrible run defense. Namely, they picked up defensive tackle Eli Ankou off waivers.

Ankou has received scraps of playing time during his time in the league. The Texans’ run defense is atrocious from the defensive line all the way to the secondary. Maybe he’ll get actual playing time this year.
The other bit of news is Gareon Conley’s rehab hasn’t gone well since he underwent offseason arthroscopic ankle surgery.
Romeo Crennel on Gareon Conley (who's on IR and had offseason ankle surgery): 'He's trying to get back, he's not where he needs to be. He's had second opinions not been able to pinpoint anything definite and they'll see how he does and if he can get back' Not close

The Texans’ second cornerback, who they gave up a third round pick for in 2019, has yet to play a down this season. In his absence has been Vernon Hagreaves III and even Phillip Gaines whenever Hargreaves plays poorly enough to get benched. Conley is a free agent after this season. Who knows if he’ll play this year? If he doesn’t, it may mean he’s already played his final snap for the Houston Texans at the cost of a third round pick.
