The last time your Houston Texans played a football game without Bill O’Brien as their head coach was on December 29, 2013. Houston lost to the Titans 16-10, their fourteenth (14!) loss in a row that season, cementing their status as the worst team in the NFL. Heady times, my friends.
Now, almost seven years later, the Texans again find themselves without Bill O’Brien as their head coach thanks to Cal McNair deciding O’Brien’s time in Houston should come to an end this past Monday. Wade Phillips once stepped into the interim head coaching vacancy back in 2013 when Gary Kubiak was fired, and now Romeo Crennel will do the same in O’Brien’s place. Will Crennel fare better than Phillips did? Let us watch and learn, starting with this afternoon’s tilt against the Jaguars.
