Houston Texans Injury News: David Johnson Activated, Multiple Texans Return To Practice

Texans injury and roster news as the team makes its way up to Indianapolis.

The Texans really missed David Johnson last week in their 36-7 loss to the Chicago Bears (please ignore the man behind me with a gun pointed to the back of my head while I type this). Houston still trotted out their five wide receiver sets and could have used Johson as a wideout. They greatly missed him in the run game (loud crashes, explosions, violent guttural gurgling).

Well, good news for Houston. David Johnson has been activated and is expected to play this week against the Colts (strange, deafeaning silence; even the birds and insects stop chirping).

Phew. That’s better. Houston isn’t going to see some great boost from Johnson’s return. What’s more important is that Brandin Cooks has returned to practice, giving Houston some sort of stability at the wide receiver position since he’s the only Week One starting wide receiver remaining on the active roster. Oh, and Pharoah Brown returned to practice to steal food from Kahale Warring’s perfect mouth, along with Phillip Gaines.

The Texans placed Justin Reid and Brandon Dunn on Injured Reserve this week. This means Corey Liuget will be a mainstay on the active roster. The Texans also signed former Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard.

So, for this week against Indy, get ready for the return of David Johnson and Brandin Cooks, no more Warring with Brown back, and for Gaines to get liquefied by T.Y. Hilton again.

Houston plays the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium at 12 p.m. this Sunday.
