2020 NFL Free Agency: Houston Texans Re-Sign Vernon Hargreaves III

The pass defense is going to be bad again, isn’t it?

The Houston Texans released Vernon Hargreaves III before free agency started. They didn’t want to be locked into paying a below average to bad cornerback (it depends on how nice you are feeling today) $10 million for he fifth year of his rookie contract. So off Hargreaves went to explore free agency, and now comes Hargreaves back to Houston.

According to Aaron Wilson, via a league source not authorized to speak publicly, the Texans will sign Hargreaves to a one-year contract.

As of right now, the Texans are running back the same pass defense that finished 26th in pass defense DVOA last season, except this time they now have Eric Murray instead of Jahleel Addae, and Johnathan Joseph is no longer standing on the sideline.

Free agency officially begins tomorrow. Hopefully Houston finally does something, anything, that improves the pass defense.
